Biography

Desire Thomassin: (11. Februar 1858 in Wien; - 24. März 1933 in München) war ein österreichischer Maler und Komponist.

Thomassin war der Sohn eines hohen Verwaltungsbeamten des Herzogs von Parma und einer Deutschen. Mit 19 Jahren wurde Thomassin 1877 Schüler der Königl. Musikschule München. Bis 1881 war er dort Schüler der Professoren Josef Gabriel Rheinberger und Max Hieber.

Nach seinem Studienabschluß war Thomassin bis 1883 in wechselnden Stellungen als Musiklehrer tätig. Anschließend studierte er bei Wilhelm von Diez an der königlichen Akademie der Künste in München.

Schwerpunkt von Thomassins Schaffen war die Landschafts- und Genremalerei. Dabei lehnte er sich stark an Diez' naturalistischem Stil an.

Im Alter von 75 Jahren starb Désiré Thomassin am 24. März 1933 in München.
